Years ago I took my first flight to New Zealand and stayed for several days in the Lake Taupo area of the north island. What I discovered over those few days created a life long passion with this island pacific nation. I am frequently asked why we go there every year. The answer is forthright and simple. I get to chase some of the biggest trout in the world in some of the most challenging conditions. But if I dig down below the surface of that answer, I discover that I repeatedly go there because I love the Kiwis and the wild rugged nature of their islands.
